Hays Retail
January - March 2012
Hotspots
We have seen an increase in demand for Buyers from retail head offices to impact bottom line profit this year. The right buyer, buying the right products at the right price is central to this. At Hays Retail, we provide value by connecting employers with key candidates who are difficult to find in today's market.
Operationally the demand for strong Store Managers remains. Candidates need retail management skills and a professional approach. This is a high turnover role, but it is also a key role so retailers are under pressure to make their next appointment the right one. Store Managers are more inclined to register with an agency for a managed recruitment service.
The coming quarter
Following the Christmas period, when recruitment took a slightly backward role as businesses instead focused on selling their products to the consumer, we expect to see a rise in new positions. This will be most obvious for businesses that experienced a successful Christmas period.
Employer trends
Businesses are utilising recruitment consultancies more for operational roles in order to access a range of quality candidates.
Candidate trends
Candidates were motivated to secure new roles before the Christmas period. This motivation is expected to continue this quarter as they are inspired by the creation of new job opportunities in the first quarter of the New Year.
